If you’ve read yesterday’s post, you’ll know I was concerned about whether I’d be able to put in a good performance at The Glee Club in Birmingham last night. So you’re probably bursting with curiosity about how it went. Well, I could tell you all about it. Or… you could just click on the video below and hear for yourself. (It’s audio only, as I didn’t bother filming it.)
Just to set the scene: I was due to go on third, but the experienced opening act was late getting to the show so I was asked to step in front of the firing line and take the first bullet. It went reasonably well, I think. Considering that the industry standard for a professional headliner is to have 30 seconds of laughter per minute of stage time, I think it was a respectable outing for the Bambam Shaikh character. Not a bad way to exorcise the comedy demons that have tormented me for the best part of a decade!
